Welcome to Boarshaw Primary School!

Hello! I am delighted to welcome you to the Boarshaw Primary School website.
Boarshaw Primary School is a thriving and expanding Primary School in Middleton, Manchester. Our fantastic pupils are friendly, caring, hardworking and eager to learn.

Our school offers a safe, caring and stimulating environment. We have high expectations for staff and pupils alike and through quality teaching, individually tailored support and encouragement, we aim to ensure that all pupils make rapid progress and attain higher than average results.

We have been thrilled with our amazing results over the last few years and delighted that they are once again above both local and national averages. Have a look at our fantastic results here - 2017 results
As can be clearly seen, by the time our pupils leave they are making at least expected progress with a considerable number of our pupils making significantly better than average progress.

Our teachers are dedicated to bring learning alive and work hard to make sure that lessons are engaging. We believe that learning and teaching should be creative, purposeful and challenging.

"Teachers have good subject knowledge...which they use effectively to promote pupils' learning. Teachers use questioning well to probe pupils' knowledge and understanding," OFSTED 2016

Through our effective curriculum we aim to equip each child with the skills they need for lifelong learning. We see each child as an individual and we aim to develop confident learners, who take ownership of their learning and our proud of their achievements. Our Curriculum Pages will provide you with information about our delivery of the National Curriculum, the exciting topics covered in each year group, how we enrich the curriculum for our pupils and how we embed British Values in all we do.

Our pupils are well behaved and proud of their school.

“The behaviour of pupils is good. Pupils are polite and courteous to adults and each other. They welcome visitors and willingly engage in articulate conversations about their work and school life.” Ofsted 2016

“The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding.” Ofsted 2016.

Our Class Dojos are proving a real hit and help to further motivate pupils to ensure “Every Moment Matters.”  See the school's Behaviour Management Policy for further details.

We are always seeking to improve our work, the overview of our Self Evaluation Statement and School Development Jigsaw provide brief information about our strengths and weaknesses and current foci to further improve. This year we are focusing particularly on improving our reading and spelling. Our challenge is to increase the number of pupils achieving higher than expected levels across the school.
The 2017/2018 Academic Year will also see us involved in another exciting building project with extensive work being undertaken in Foundation Stage to further heighten our EYFS provision, the expansion of our canteen and 2 new classrooms being built.

This year our focus for assemblies and whole school themes will be SMSC. This year Once Upon a Smile will be the main charity that we support.
We are very excited to be part of the Middleton Collaborative of Schools and continue to work closely with our partner Primary Improvement Triad schools Alkrington Primary and Elmwood Primary.
