Boarshaw Primary School Vision Statement

Every Moment Matters

At Boarshaw Primary School, our belief is simple: every child matters and every moment of their education matters.

We are an ambitious, inclusive and caring school where we want every child to belong, achieve and thrive. We recognise each child as an individual and are committed to ensuring that all pupils, including those with SEND, those who may face disadvantage and those who need additional support, have the opportunity to succeed.

High Expectations for Every Child

We have high expectations for every pupil. We believe that children achieve their best when they feel safe, valued and supported, whilst also being challenged to work hard, persevere and take pride in what they achieve.

Through high-quality teaching, appropriate support and a strong focus on the essential knowledge and skills children need, we aim to ensure that pupils make strong progress from their individual starting points.

We place particular importance on developing secure foundations in reading, writing and mathematics. We want every child to become a confident and fluent reader, an effective communicator and a resilient mathematician, because these skills open doors to learning across the curriculum and throughout life.

A Curriculum That Inspires

Our curriculum is ambitious, broad and carefully sequenced. It is designed to build children's knowledge, vocabulary and skills over time while encouraging curiosity, creativity and a genuine love of learning.

Learning extends beyond the classroom. Through visits, visitors, enrichment opportunities and experiences within our local community and beyond, we help children connect what they learn in school with the wider world.

We want our children not simply to remember what they have been taught, but to think, question, communicate, solve problems and apply their learning with increasing independence.

Belonging, Inclusion and Wellbeing

At Boarshaw, difference is respected and everyone belongs.

We recognise that children have different starting points, experiences, strengths and needs. Our inclusive approach aims to identify barriers to learning early and provide effective support, while maintaining ambition and high expectations for all.

Children's social and emotional development is an important part of school life. We help pupils develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive relationships, alongside the ability to understand and manage their emotions.

Ready, Safe and Respectful

Our expectations are clear and consistent:

Be Ready. Be Safe. Be Respectful.

We teach children how to make positive choices, take responsibility for their behaviour and understand how their actions affect others. Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, and we work hard to create a culture in which children feel safe, listened to and confident that adults will help them.

Excellent attendance matters. Every day in school provides opportunities to learn, develop friendships, build confidence and experience success. When children miss school, they miss moments that cannot always be recreated. We therefore work closely with families to promote excellent attendance and punctuality.

Preparing Children for Their Future

Education is about more than academic achievement.

We want children to leave Boarshaw as confident, knowledgeable, respectful and responsible young people, prepared for the next stage of their education and for life in modern Britain.

We help pupils learn about different people, families, cultures, faiths and beliefs and encourage them to approach the world with curiosity, respect and kindness. Through opportunities to contribute, lead and make decisions, children learn that their voice matters and that they can make a positive difference to their school and wider community.

Working Together

Strong relationships between children, staff, parents and carers, governors and our wider community are central to our success.

We believe that the best outcomes are achieved when school and families work together, sharing high expectations for children's learning, behaviour, attendance and personal development.

At Boarshaw, our ambition is that every child is known, every child is valued and every child is challenged and supported to achieve their very best.

“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
— A. A. Milne

Every child. Every day. Every opportunity.

Every Moment Matters.
