Being Boarshaw Brilliant through PE, Sport and Physical Activity
At Boarshaw Primary School, Every Moment Matters. We want every child to achieve, belong and thrive, and we believe that high-quality PE, sport and physical activity play an important part in making this happen.
Being Boarshaw Brilliant through sport is about much more than sporting success. It is about developing confidence, resilience, teamwork and determination, encouraging children to try new experiences and helping them understand the importance of healthy, active lifestyles.
Since 2016, Boarshaw has employed a specialist Sports Coach to teach PE and sport across the school. This is part of our core provision and is not funded through the Primary PE and Sport Premium, demonstrating our long-term commitment to high-quality PE.
The Sport Premium is used to enhance this provision by increasing participation, widening the range of activities available, providing competitive and representative sporting opportunities, accessing specialist facilities, developing staff expertise and supporting pupils who may otherwise experience barriers to participation.
Physical activity extends beyond PE lessons through clubs, competitions, active play and opportunities before, during and after the school day. Our aim is for every child to experience success, feel that they belong and develop positive habits that support their physical and emotional wellbeing.
With changes to the future of the Primary PE and Sport Premium, we are particularly focused on using the funding sustainably so that its impact continues beyond the lifetime of the grant.
